Sachein- The Movie

The movie was amongst the three big releases during the Tamil New year.It is big in everything- oddles of style(without substance),pretensions, double entrende and production values. Ah! one more thing!!deja vu!!! The inspiration from Kushi almost becomes an imitation here.So it is Vijay, who hideously laces his dialogues to score over his peers. Right from Vikram to Dhanush to Ajit(the belly dance was a real pain in the a**), he has not spared anyone. His formula continues here as well. A producers' delight ... but an underutilised actor. The stale story with even thinner screenplay than Bipasha's clothes doesn't lift this film from mediocrity.Only the rich backdrop, costumes, sets and magnificient cinematogrphy(well done Jeeva) are the noticeable pluses. And yes Vadivel's comedy.Looks a bit anachronistic for the role, still he evokes guffaws that nobody can deny.

The story of a egoistic love could have been told better . Director John was a complete letdown here. The mood of the film is sometimes lifted by the music(Devi sri Prasad) but improperly handled, again by the director. An asset becomes a liability here. Particularly, "Gundu Manga" comes as an intrusion to the narrative.Among the performances, Vijay breezes through as it is very much his film. But then I wonder does idolisation of your fave actor neccessarily mean copying the style and formula of your idol? I am astonished by Vijay's priorities. If one considers him to be the new Superstar in the making, definitely tamil films will be that much poorer.Satisfying masses, does not mean lowering ones intellect.Regards Genelia, except her gorgeous looks, nothing else has gone right for her. Including the take on Reema Sen. Santhanam's wit was inconsistent, although it was enjoyable.

Sachein-in poor form...oops taste!!
